Our philosophy
We carefully cultivate small parcels of the best Leithaberg vineyards around our home village of Kleinhöflein by hand. Characterized by the unique limestone and slate terroir, precious wines are created as impressive ambassadors of their origin. Unadulterated, as nature and soil affect year after year.

Family craft
In 2014, Michael took over his grandparents’ small winery. Since then, he has been working consistently on the reorientation and further development of the young winery, receiving active support from the whole family. Together with our employees, we are responsible for 14 hectares of vineyards in a unique cultural landscape on the southern slopes of the Leithaberg. Our aim is to produce wines full of character that tell the story of their vintage and origin. Wine enjoyment that gives pleasure.

In the vineyard
Deep-rooted, vital vines are our backbone, limestone and slate the mineral starting point. Accompanying our vines on their journey through the seasons is both a daily pleasure and a craft for us. With great sensitivity, we carefully guide our vines in order to bring unadulterated wines to the glass.

In the cellar
Our maturation center is the cellar, restraint is the top priority and time is the most important factor. A return to the strengths of the vineyards, the natural taste of the grapes and the winemaker’s craft describes our approach to vinifying authentic wines. We only process perfectly ripe grapes, ferment primarily with natural yeasts and give our wines the time they need to develop their full flavor. This allows us to produce expressive and long-lasting wines. Wines with the Kirchknopf signature.
